PBIS

Tri-Point Lower Elementary will be participating in an important positive behavior program for this and future school years.  It is called Positive Behavior Supports (PBIS).

What is PBIS?

PBIS is a program that promotes and strengthens academic progress and behavior.  It is a school-wide plan for helping all students achieve important social and learning goals.  We know that when good behavior and good teaching come together, our students will do extremely well in their learning.  The schools in the Tri Point district are proud to be a part of this exciting program.

What is PBIS at Tri-Point Lower Elementary?

PBIS organizes adults and students to create an atmosphere that encourages good behavior and interaction, while discouraging bad behaviors.  We have established three clear rules for the behaviors that we expect in all areas of our school.  These expectations are: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe.  We affectionately call these expectations our "3B's".  We will teach these expectations to the students and reward them often with Pride Points, which can then be used to earn prizes for their great behavior.  The expectations for all student behavior will be clearly posted throughout our buildings, playground areas, cafeteria, gym, and classrooms.  You will be able to to ask your child, "What are the rules in your school? "How do you follow those rules?" What happens when a teacher sees you following the rules?"

The use of PBIS will make for a safer, more respectful, more responsible school.  This will provide more time for teaching.  We will use consistent consequences and positive rewards for all students.  By teaching every expected behavior and teaching kids in a positive way, we will provide a common language for everyone in our building, including students, teachers, office staff and classroom assistants.

PBIS also allows parents / guardians and teachers to have open communication about what is expected in all areas of the school.  But, even though the school district assumes a leading role in the PBIS program, its success is dependent upon the support of parents, local business, and the surrounding community.  We believe that by helping students practice good behavior, we will build a school community where all students have an environment where they can succeed and grow as learners and members of our community.

The district would like to thank you for taking the time to read about our PBIS program and for supporting us in any way you can.  Without your continued support this program would not be possible.

We value your input and your involvement.  Please contact us at school if you have any questions or need further information.

Thank you for you support.
